MEAC ANNOUNCES VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton senior Vendula Strakova was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week. Florida A&M’s Pamela Soriano earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.

Strakova (RS, 6-0, Sr., Brno, Czech Republic) led the Lady Pirates to a 1-1 week. In a 3-2 loss to VCU, she registered 24 kills and 12 digs. Strakova also added 14 kills in a 3-0 victory over Norfolk State.

Soriano (OH, 5-10, R-Fr., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) recorded 39 kills and 13 digs for the week. She tallied a top performance of 19 kills and 11 digs in a four-set loss to Florida Gulf Coast.

 

Other Top Performers

Kirby Anderson (SCSU) registered 14 kills against Wofford and UNC-Asheville.

Khaila Donaldson (HOW) recorded a game-high 11 kills in a 3-0 win over Morgan State.

Maya Horner (CSU) logged 11 kills in a 3-2 victory over Morgan State.

Marissa Lawrence (SCSU) tallied 15 kills against Wofford and UNC-Asheville.

Cindy Okpegbue (CSU) recorded 18 kills in five-set win over Morgan State.

Ksenia Sukhareva (UMES) totaled 19 kills and 14 digs against Norfolk State and Delaware State.
