Aggies remain unbeaten at home
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Tracy King scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had five steals and dished out four assists to lead the North Carolina A&T women's basketball team to a 62-47 win over Campbell at Corbett Sports Center Monday.
The Aggies (10-2) improved to 5-0 at home by forcing 28 Campbell turnovers that turned into 28 points. The Aggies also held the Camels to 15 first-half points as they went into the locker room leading 27-15.
The Camels got to within eight, 34-26, thanks to a Kiera Gaines layup with 14:43 to play. But the Aggies answered with layups from Debbie Smith and Ariel Bursey to push the lead back to double figures. DeAndra Davis' baseline jumper with 2:41 to play gave the Aggies their biggest lead of the game at 57-37.
Gaines led the Camles (8-5) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. But the Camels were just 8-for-18 from the free throw line.
The Aggies open up conference play on Saturday when they travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face Bethune-Cookman at 2 p.m.

Williams leads South Carolina State past Southern Wesleyan
ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State placed five players in double figures, led by Kourtney Williams’ game-high 23 points, in earning a 104-69 nonconference win over visiting Southern Wesleyan Monday night at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
The Lady Bulldogs eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time since the 2007-2008 campaign when they defeated Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Howard 106-78. The 104 points were also the most for Coach Doug Robertson's team this season and the highest point total since a 94-46 triumph over Southern Wesleyan last year.
Robertson's team improved to 3-8 (1-0 MEAC) on the year and remained perfect at home in three outings.
Following Williams in the scoring column for SC State was Cabriel Duren with 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds. MyKala Jones came off the bench for 19 points, connecting on 7-9 attempts, including 4-6 from behind the arc. Persephone Goodwin added 14 points and Cherisha Floyd 10 in the victory.
The Lady Warriors, who dropped to 3-8, were led by reserve Kiara Coleman with 13 points. Brooke Strickland, another reserve, added 12 points, while Christina Perkins – who played for SC State before transferring to Southern Wesleyan two years ago – and Chelsie Waters contributed 11 points each. Perkins and Michelle Anaya had seven rebounds each for Southern Wesleyan, which matched the Lady Bulldogs on the boards with 36 rebounds.
SC State will resume its schedule Saturday when the Lady Bulldogs meet MEAC foe Morgan State at Baltimore, MD in a league doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Lady Tigers remain unbeaten at home, roll past Trinity Baptist
SAVANNAH, Ga. – In their final nonconference match of the 2013-14 campaign, the Savannah State Lady Tigers held onto their spotless home record with a 106-33 rout of Trinity Baptist College in Tiger Arena on Monday evening.
SSU improves to 8-7 on the season and 5-0 in Tiger Arena.
Head coach Cedric Baker, in his 11th year in Savannah, earned his 100th NCAA Division I win and his 100th win as head coach of the SSU women's basketball program. Coach Baker is six wins away from a career 300 coaching wins.
All 14 Lady Tigers registered points in the win. Senior Ezinne Kalu led with 21, followed by freshman Kenyata Hendrix who scored 14 points. Jasmine Norman and Jasmine Kirkland each added 10 points.
The Lady Tigers shot a season-high 60.6 percent from the floor. In the first half only, SSU managed an incredible 74.2 percent (23-for-31) clip from the floor and went 85.7 percent from the charity strip. They scored 53 points in each period.
The Eagles of Trinity Baptist were led by Myeasha Williams, who registered 17 points in the loss. Kaneesha Ellick added eight points, while Danielle Davis led in rebounds with nine. The Eagles fared better in the second half, scoring 22 points, an improvement on their 11 points of the first twenty.
The Lady Tigers return to action this weekend in their first test on the road against the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
They are scheduled to play Coppin State on January 11 at 2 p.m. in Baltimore, Maryland. SSU will travel down the beltway to Washington, D.C. on January 13 for a bout with Howard. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
