MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASKETBALL HONORS

Jamie Adams of Florida A&M was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  James Daniels of Howard earned Rookie of the Week honors, while North Carolina Central’s Jay Copeland was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Adams (G, 5-10, 185, Sr., Chicago, Ill.) averaged 21.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in two conference wins over North Carolina A&T and S.C. State.  He scored 27 points, shooting 63-percent from the field, with four rebounds, six assists and four steals in a win over South Carolina State. 

Daniel (G, 5-11, 165, Fr., Hampton, Va.) averaged 25.0 points, 2l.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists to help Howard finish 1-1 last week.  Daniel recorded a career-high 33 points, hitting perfectly from the charity strip (9-of-9), with two rebounds and two assists in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore. 

Copeland (F, 6-7, 255, r-Jr., Suffolk, Va.) totaled 26 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in three victories for North Carolina Central last week.  He posted back-to-back double-digit rebounding performances against Bethune-Cookman and NJIT.  He also grabbed six boards in a win over Delaware State. Offensively he scored 37 points with two assists.

Other Top Performances

Andre Armstrong (CSU) averaged 19.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in a pair of wins against Savannah State and Hampton.

Bruce Beckford (NCAT) recorded a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds against Florida A&M.

Justin Black (MSU) scored 24 points, with eight rebounds, and five assists in a win over Norfolk State.

Brandon Goode (NSU) registered a combined 15 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks, one assist and one steal in two games last week for the Spartans.

Kendall Gray (DSU) scored a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds with five blocks and one steal against Norfolk State. 

Anthony Hubbard (MSU) recorded 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds, with four assists, against Norfolk State.

Kyree Jones (UMES) scored 13 points, with three assists, and one rebound against Howard.

Trey Kellum (FAMU) recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, with three blocked shots, against South Carolina State.

Du’Vaughn Maxwell (Hampton) shot perfectly from the field (6-for-6) in en route to 16 points, four rebounds, three blocks and four steals against Coppin State.

Richaud Pack (NCAT) scored 30 points, five rebounds eight assist, and one steal in a win over NJIT.

Prince Okoroh (Howard) totaled 30 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal to help the Bison finish 1-1 last week.

Tyler Stone (Howard) totaled 15 points and 12 rebounds in win over Maryland Eastern Shore and a loss to Savannah State. 

Pendarvis Williams (NSU) averaged 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in a win over Delaware State and a loss to Morgan State.
