Lady Pirates fifth, Pirates sixth at Spider Alumni Open

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The Hampton University women’s cross country team finished fifth in the Spider Alumni Open on Friday at Pole Green Park, while the men’s cross country team came in sixth in the meet hosted by the University of Richmond.
 
The Lady Pirates tallied 151 points in the women’s two-mile race, while William & Mary tallied just 16 points in winning the team title.
 
Senior Nichelle Harris paced the Lady Pirates with an 11:21.10, coming in 25th, while senior Devyn Thompson came in 45th with a 12:01.80 and senior Ashley Armand was 47th after running a 12:05.40.
 
Freshman Amanda Delacruz ran a 12:09.30 to finish 50th, and senior Cydney Robinson came in 62nd after turning in a 12:33.90. Sophomore Kaylor Murray was 66th with a time of 12:40.90.
 
Freshman Tandeka Nunn ran a 13:28.80 to finish 70th, while freshman Kanitra Hatton came in 72ndwith a 14:25.10.
 
Elaina Balouris of William & Mary had the top women’s time with a meet-record 10:17.50.
 
The Pirates had 190 points in the men’s 5K race, while Duquesne took the team title with 34 points.
 
Senior Je’Von Hutchison turned in the Pirates’ top time, clocking in at 16:47.00 to come in 54th overall, while junior Edose Ibadin was 55th after running a 16:48.30. Rayon Black turned in a 17:31.50 to finish 59th.
 
Junior Mohamed Labor-Koroma came in 60th with a 17:40.30, while sophomore Andrea Green (Kingston, Jamaica) was 62nd with a 19:08.60 and junior Ramon Kelly  finished 63rd after running a 19:24.70.
 
William & Mary’s Radford Gunzenhauser turned in the men’s top time with a 15:02.30.
