North Carolina Central falls to UNC Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Junior transfer Da'sha Brown finished two digs shy of a double-double during the North Carolina Central University volleyball team's three-set loss to the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville (25-17, 25-13, 25-16) during the Eagles first road match-up in Asheville, N.C.
Brown finished the night hitting 28 percent with 11 kills while also contributing eight digs and one solo block. Senior Kalin Russell added five more kills for NCCU while accumulating three blocks and one service ace.
Junior setter Alice Genna \circulated 12 assists while redshirt sophomore Melissa Rabell Pineiro dug nine UNCA attacks.
As a team the Eagles amassed 20 kills, 39 digs, two service aces and seven team blocks.
The Bulldogs offense was led by Christine Lakatos, who finished the night with 11 kills. Katie Davis distributed 28 assists while Rachel Wells tied UNCA's school record with seven service aces in addition to her team-high 14 digs in the victory.

Okegbue records career-high 17 kills in Coppin State loss
TOWSON, Md. -- Sophomore Cindy Okpegbue recorded a career-high 17 kills, but Coppin State dropped a 25-23, 28-30, 25-15, 25-20 non-conference decision to Towson on Tuesday in SECU Arena.
Towson (2-3) was led by UMES transfer Saitaua Iosia who had 18 kills and nine digs. Haley Pa'akaula added 12 kils, while Paige Sekerak had 21 digs. The Tigers also had 13 service aces for the match.
Coppin State (1-3) received nine kills and five digs from Denali Sturgeon and seven kills from Ariel Richard. Gabrielle Otero had a season, and match, high 25 digs, while Chelsee Sauni added 39 assists.
After dropping a closely-contested first set by a 25-23 score, the Eagles bounced back to record a 30-28 victory in the second set to even the match. Coppin State hit a blistering .357 in winning the second set.
Towson hit .344 to post a 25-15 win in the third set and then closed out the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

North Carolina drops hard-fought thriller at Winthrop
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The North Carolina A&T volleyball team put up its best performance of the season, but fell, 3-2, to Winthrop.
The Aggies lost to the Eagles in five sets (25-17, 21-25, 15-25, 25-21, 9-15).
North Carolina A&T (0-4) found its rhythm early and won the first set. The Aggies used several runs and stretched their biggest lead to 18-8. However, the Eagles (4-0) responded by taking the next two sets.
After being down 10-3, the Aggies worked together and staged a comeback to tie the match at 20 with a kill from sophomore Aleena McDaniel. The Lady Aggies responded by scoring four straight points to take a 24-20 lead. A kill from Brooke Stames helped the Aggies close the fourth set and force the game to a deciding fifth set.
