NORFOLK, Va., September 23, 2013 – Howard University junior Stephanie Shultis was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, while teammate Katherine Broussard earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Shultis (S, 6-1, Jr., Springfield, Va.) set a school record for assists with 58 against Morgan State. Shultis tailed 160 assists, 26 kills and 20 digs in four matches and was selected the Most Valuable Player at the Ninth Annual Providence Friar Classic.
Broussard (OH, 5-11, Fr., Harvey, La.) had a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs in a win over Saint Francis (N.Y.). She registered 44 kills and 36 digs to help the Lady Bison to a 2-2 last week.

Ngebui Chafeh (MSU) totaled 99 assists, 10 kills, 24 digs, five aces and two blocks at the Ninth Annual Providence Friar Classic.
Victoria Ferguson (SCSU) registered 10 digs against UNC-Charlotte and 12 digs against Tennessee State.
Alex Irizarry (NSU) finished with 10 digs against Penn and 11 digs against Sacred Heart.
Petra Jerabkova (UMES) totaled 13 kills and 13 digs in three matches, while being named to Blue & White Classic All-Tournament Team.
Jessica Johnson (NSU) totaled 30 kills and 18 digs in three matches at the Villanova Classic.
Ashley McCarthy (NCCU) registered 10 kills and 15 digs, while being selected to the Spartan Spiketacular All-Tournament Team.
Haley McClure (MSU) recorded a career-high 10 kills and 10 digs in a win against Providence.
Cindy Okepegbue (CSU) totaled 25 kills, including 10, against Cal State Northridge.
Delicia Pierre (B-CU) totaled 46 kills and 34 digs in five matches last week.
Haley Robinson (UMES) totaled 13 kills and four digs at the Blue & White Classic.
Vendula Strakova (HAM) registered double-doubles in kills (22 and 25) and digs (10 and 10) against New Mexico State and UTEP.
Alexas Thomas (B-CU) finished with a double-double of 23 assists and 13 digs against The Citadel.
Desire Waller (SCSU) recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs against Tennessee State.
