Bears record four singles wins at USTA Invitational

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - After a rough start Morgan State men's team recorded four singles wins on Day 1 of the USTA Men’s College Invitational at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The Bears were led by senior Dmitriy Borodkin who advanced to the semifinals as a result of going 2-0 in his flight. He posted a 6-2, 6-2 win against Saint Peter’s Fabian Valdiviezo and also handed Fordham’s Peder Gram a 6-4, 6-0 loss.

Duk Young-Park lost his first match 7-5, 6-2 against #4 seed Nick Bybel of Bucknell, and then he bounced back  by defeating Fordham’s Matty Najfeld.

Ernesto Arguello from Bryant cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Morgan State’s Evan Ward, but Ward rebounded by defeating #2 Michael McGinnis from Boston College 6-0, 6-3.
