Lady Wildcats drop home opener to Florida Atlantic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Florida Atlantic spoiled Bethune-Cookman’s home opener Wednesday with a 3-0 (25-16,25-20,25-20) decision in historic Moore Gymnasium.

Delecia Pierre had nine kills and three blocks, while Phylecia Armstrong had five kills and five blocks for the Lady Cats, now 1-10.

Ivana Bulajic had five points for FAU (6-5), which defeated B-CU for the second time this season.

Rhea Simon had six kills, six digs and two blocks for B-CU, followed by Destiny Hudson with five kills. Freshman setter Alexas Thomas finished with 20 assists and senior Jennifer Jimenez had 12 digs.

North Carolina A&T falls on the road to Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State defeated the North Carolina A&T volleyball team 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-5) at the Holmes Center.

The Aggies (1-11) fell to 1-11, while the Mountaineers improved to 7-4. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Appalachian. 

The Mountaineers made it tough for the Aggies in the first set as they registered 20 kills off 35 attacks for a hitting percentage of .457.

Brooke Stamnes led the Aggies with 11 kills. Liz Martino tallied 20 assists and Ashley Johnson finished with 26 digs.
