MEAC Announces Cross Country Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va., September 18, 2013 – Florida A&M junior Elias Chesire and Morgan State graduate student Ashley Seymour were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

Chesire (Jr., Eldoret, Kenya) finished 10th at the Mountain Dew Invitational as he recorded a season-best time of 24:43.74 during the 8K meet. Chesire paced the Rattlers to a seventh-place finish.

Seymour (Grad., Washington, D.C.) finished with a season-best winning time of 17:53.27 at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational to lead Morgan State to its second consecutive meet victory. It was also the second straight individual win for Seymour.

Other Top Performers: 

Alaric Coker (CSU)
placed seventh, with a time of 21:55.84, at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.

Rachel Halmon (UMES) led the Hawks to a second-place finish, with a time of 19:58.12, at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.

Kesha Medas-King (CSU) finished sixth at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational, with a time of 19:33.55.

 

Khalil Rimidi Kinini (UMES) placed third as he guided the Hawks to their first win of the season at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.

 

Effiey Kosgei (FAMU) ran a personal-best time of 22:33.29 at the Mountain Dew Invitational (6K).

 

Terrell Oliver (DSU) finished sixth, with a time of 21:41.68, at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.

Christian Smooth (MSU) ran a time of 20:22.99 to help the Bears to a second-place finish at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational.

 

Seymour Walter (SCSU) finished 16th and improved his time by 48 seconds at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.

Sarai Waters (SCSU) ran a season-best, 19:38.70, to finish seventh at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
