Former Eagle Clement signs professional contract

DURHAM, N.C. – Former North Carolina Central University men’s basketball standout Landon Clement has signed a professional contract with Sluneta Usti Nad from the Mattoni National Basketball League in the Czech Republic.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to play professionally,” said Clement.  “I’m super excited to get this opportunity to live in the Czech Republic and play the game I love.”

During his career at NCCU, Landon averaged 18.1 points a game and hit 142 three-pointers, which is fifth all-time.  Out of all the members that reside in the top-10, Clement is second in three-point field goal percentage at 41.3 percent.

In the 2010-11 season, Clement was the team’s second leading scorer at 18.7 points a game and set a new NCCU single-season record with 109 three-pointers.  He earned NCAA Division I “Newcomer of the Year” among the Independent schools as the Eagles were making the transition to the MEAC, while also being named to the BoxtoRow.com All-American team.

“I’m so proud that Landon has signed a professional contract,” said NCCU head coach LeVelle Moton.  “I’ve known him since he was a young man and to see him grow throughout the years and get the chance to live out his dream on the court makes me happy to see him succeed.”

The Sluneta Usti Nad organization dates back to 1946 and in the 2011-12 season earned a spot in the first division of the Mattoni NBL, and is looking to get back to the playoffs after missing out last season.
