NORFOLK, Va. – Junior guard Pendarvis Williams of the Norfolk State men’s basketball team was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Division I All-State first team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

A native of Philadelphia, Williams earned the MEAC Player of the Year award and was voted to the All-MEAC first team in 2013 after finishing fourth in the league in scoring at 14.3 points per game. He led the Spartans to a 16-0 MEAC regular season record, the first time since 1993-94 a MEAC team went undefeated in conference play.

The Spartans finished 21-12 overall this year, the second-straight season the team finished with 20 or more wins. NSU earned its second-straight postseason appearance by capturing the MEAC regular season title, falling to Virginia in the NIT first round.

Green was voted the Player of the Year, while Michael Kessens of Longwood earned Rookie of the Year accolades. After leading James Madison to the NCAA tournament, Matt Brady earned VaSID’s Coach of the Year award.
