DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman took the doubles point, but Florida Gulf Coast topped the Wildcats in singles play for a 5-2 victory Saturday at City Island Courts.
The Wildcats (12-11) got victories from the duos of Santiago Lobelo and Diego Garavito at No. 2 doubles and Juan Varon and Moritz Pronath at No. 3 to take the 1-0 lead.
But in singles play, only Leonardo Limo at No. 5 singles was able to register a win as the Eagles (10-8) took five of the six contests.
Morgan State Men's Tennis battles in loss to Mount Saint Mary's, 6-1
BALTIMORE, Md. --The Mount St. Mary's men's tennis team defeated Morgan State 6-1 at Morgan State.
Morgan Stat's Matthew Balck and Taylor Place defeated Matthew Blake and Taylor Place 8-2, at No. 1 doubles. However, Mike Salomon and Adam Salam combined for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Duk Young-Park and Dmitriy Borodkin with Mike Zabetakis and Mike Zabetakis an 8-4 win over Duwane Thomas and Ondre Cargill at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Young Park lost to Blake 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Evan Ward lost a tight matcht 7-6, 7-5 to Salam at No. 2.
Borodkin defeated Solomon in three sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) at No. 3 singles, but Austin Blake was a 6-0, 6-4 winner against Duwane Thomas at No. 4 singles. Zabetakis cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Richard King at No. 5 singles.

NCCU Men's Tennis Sweeps VSU for second straight victory
PETERSBURG, VA. – The North Carolina Central University men’s tennis team captured its second straight victory as they defeated Virginia State 9-0 in Petersburg, Va.
The Eagles dominated during doubles action as the swept all three VSU opponents. Jose Fabara and Daniil Gerasimov paired as the No. 1 team defeating Matt Brown and Nick Pfab 8-3. In the No. 2 spot Stephan Charles-Donatien and Fabrice George knocked out VSU’s Evan Dickson and K’Wame Tonkins 8-1 and the No. 3 duo of Thomas Persico and Tamina Kienka swept Delwin McCurdy and Denzel Harris 8-0.
After taking an early 3-0 lead, NCCU continued its success during singles play. In the No. 1 spot Gerasimov defeated Brown (7-6, 7-5), Persico was successful at No. 2 over Pfab (6-1, 6-0), Charles-Donatien beat Dickson as NCCU’s No. 3 (6-1, 6-0), George was victorious over Tonkins (6-2, 6-1), Kienka defeated McCurdy (6-2, 6-0) and NCCU’s Jamal Hoyet took a 6-0, 6-1 match from VSU’s Harris.
The 9-0 victory advanced the Eagles to 3-9 overall on the season.
NCCU returns to action on Tuesday, April 9 as they host the Hampton University Pirates in a 1:00 p.m., home match-up in Durham, N.C., on the NCCU Tennis Courts.
