B-CU Ends Season Ranked in Final NTCA National Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The final National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) National Poll was released this week, and the Bethune-Cookman University bowling team has ended the 2012-13 season ranked in a tie for No. 20 alongside Alabama A&M. A season ago, B-CU finished the year ranked No. 18, marking the second consecutive year the Maroon and Gold have finished the season amongst the top 20 nationally.

Bethune-Cookman ended the 2012-13 campaign with a record of 60-65 (10-14 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), and spent the entire season ranked in the NTCA National Poll. The Wildcats contended for a shot at the MEAC Championship game, finishing their run with a 2-2 mark on elimination Saturday in the tournament.

During the regular season, the Cats were ranked as high as No. 17 in the NTCA Media Poll, and began the year ranked 18th in the NTCA National Poll.

Senior Staci Hilliard was named to the All-MEAC Team for the second consecutive year, while teammates Natalee Armstrong and Felicia Baker joined Hilliard on the MEAC All-Academic Team.

Fellow MEAC members Maryland Eastern Shore (No. 3) and Norfolk State (No. 14) joined the Cats in the final NTCA National Poll. National champion Nebraska finished atop the final rankings, joined by Vanderbilt, UMES, Arkansas State and Central Missouri to round out the top five.

Since the NCAA Championships was the only competition since the last poll was released the teams ranked 11-20 from the April poll were carried over to the final poll.
