Phila., Pa.- Drexel scored the go-ahead run on a Delaware State error in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Hornets 3-2 at the DU Softball Field today. The Hornets had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the seventh inning but failed to score.
Drexel (13-32) scored single runs in the first and third innings to tie the game.
The score was still 2-2 when the Dragons batted in the last of the sixth. Drexel scored the go-ahead run on a Delaware State throwing error with two outs in the inning.
The Hornets outhit the Dragons 9-5, but left 11 runners on base. DSU left two runners on base in three innings and stranded three in the third.
Oro had two of the Hornets’ nine hits.
Stephanie Sarris (8-9) was the tough luck loser for Delaware State. She allowed just three hits and two runs, one earned, in five innings. Sarris struck out three and walked one.
Delaware State is back in action with a doubleheader at Maryland on Thursday. Game one gets underway at 5:00 p.m.
