MEAC Bowling Championship To Air On ESPNU

NORFOLK, Va., April 2, 2013- The 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Championship will air on ESPNU, Wednesday, April 3 at 10:30 p.m. (EST) and again on Friday, April 5 at 5:30 a.m. The championship finale was originally played on March 24, 2013.

The two-time defending NCAA champion Maryland Eastern Shore Lady Hawks won their six MEAC bowling title with a victory over the Hampton Lady Pirates at the AMF Lanes in Chesapeake, Virginia.

UMES senior Anggie Ramirez earned Outstanding Tournament Performer honors. Ramirez led her team to the top seed with a 211 average during team games on the first day of competition. 

Head Coach Kristina Frahm of Maryland Eastern Shore was named Outstanding Coach for the first time in her career. 
Joining Ramirez on the All-Tournament Team is teammate T’Nia Falbo. North Carolina A&T’s Emily Strombeck, Katherine Jones of Florida A&M and Hampton’s Rebecca Glazier completed the team.

The Lady Hawks, who are currently ranked third in the National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) Coaches' poll and second in the Media poll, currently hold a 110-21 mark overall and concluded the season with a 27-3 record in conference play. UMES was one of eight teams selected to compete in the 2013 NCAA Bowling Championship. It is the 10th consecutive trip for the Lady Hawks who won titles in 2008, 2011 and 2012.
