UMES' Lopez Earns NCAA All-Tournament Team Honors

CANTON, Mich. - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) freshman Kristie Lopez had an outstanding tournament at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Bowling Championships.  And the NCAA noticed.  Lopez was named to the All-Tournament Team late Saturday night and was the lone representative in the five woman squad from UMES.

Lopez bowled in all seven team games for the Hawks, starting six and averaged an impressive 203.3.  She rolled the second highest individual game of the event, a 266 and tallied 1,220 pins on the day.

Lopez bowled lead-off for the maroon and grey in all four Baker matches and tallied 14 strikes and 10 spares in 24 chances on the first frame of each game she bowled.

The remainder of the All-Tournament Team consisted of Amanda Lebossierre of Arkansas State, Jessica Earnest of Vanderbilt, Elise Bolton of Nebraska and the Most Outstanding Bowler, Lizabeth Kuhlkin of Nebraska.  The awards were presented following the championship match where Nebraska claimed their fourth NCAA title in a 4.5-2.5 win over Vanderbilt at Super Bowl lanes in Canton, Mich.
