Lady Bison Beats Mt. Saint Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, MD. The Howard University women’s tennis team concluded the regular season on a five-game winning streak and 4-3 victory over Mount Saint Mary’s on Thursday in Emmitsburg, Md.

Katelyn Stokes defeated her opponent Kelly Conroy, 6-2, 6-0, while Stacey Roheman beat Renee Deane, 6-2, 6-3, and Audria Bell overpowered Liz Rossi, 6-4, 6-1.

Howard swept the doubles competition with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 slots.  Stokes and Talia Johnson took an 8-2 win over Conroy and Samantha Pinchoff, as Umarah Mughee and Roheman beat Deana and C. Landini 8-2.

SCSU Defeats B-CU's Men And Women

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – South Carolina State defeated Bethune-Cookman in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matches Friday at City Island Courts. The Bulldog men (11-3 overall, 3-1 MEAC) took a 4-1 decision and the women (13-4,6-0) won 4-3.

In the women’s contest, Gaby Chinchilla (15-6) won her ninth straight singles matches, but had a six-match winning streak with Chinatsu Kajiwara snapped in doubles play.  Shereen Peterson-Paul and Maria Dimitrova also won singles points for the Lady Wildcats, now 13-10 overall and 3-2 in MEAC play.

Santiago Lobelo registered the only point for the Wildcat men, now 12-14 and 1-2.
