Coppin State Tennis Teams Post Wins Over St. Francis (NY)

Coppin State Women's Tennis Beats St. Francis for First Win

BALTIMORE -- Jennifer Mitchell, Ashley Milo and Miranda Taylor each posted victories in singles and doubles to lead the Coppin State women's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over St. Francis (N.Y.) on Friday at the Coppin State Tennis Courts.

Mitchell posted victories at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles, while Milo won at No. 2 singles and teamed with Taylor to win at No. 1 doubles. Taylor also recorded a victory at No. 3 singles to lead the Eagles to their first victory of the season.

Coppin State (1-4) swept both doubles matches to earn the team point.

Mitchell and Katherine Chisholm defeated Natasha Edwards and Akuila Edwards 8-0 at No. 2 doubles and Milo and Taylor rallied from a 6-0 deficit to beat Camille Petrizzo and Ludo Lisovska 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.

Milo defeated Dragana Dzigurski 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Taylor defeated Petrizzo 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Mitchell swept past Natasha Edwards 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Lauretta Mukam crusied to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jovana Bojinovic at No. 5 singles.

Robinson, Peyton Leads Eagles to First Victory of the Season

BALTIMORE -- Reginald Robinson and Roderick Peyton each won singles matches and also teamed to record a victory in doubles to lead the Coppin State men's tennis team to a 4-1 victory over St. Francis (N.Y.) on Friday at the Coppin State Tennis Courts.

Robinson defeated Evan Vrsalijko 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while Peyton rallied from a set down to defeat Ricardo Garcia 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.

The duo also helped the Eagles claim the doubles point by beating Martin Grunin and Garcia 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

Coppin State (1-2) won the doubles point when Patrick Thomas and Tre'vonne Peyton defeated Alexander Tokarz and Vrsalijko 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.

The Eagles won three of the four completed singles matches to earn the victory.

Daniel Nino also won in singles for Coppin State as he rallied to defeat Tita Mba 6-7, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
