Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Morgan King earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in softball for games played March 11-17, the conference announced on Monday. Savannah State’s Madison Hedderly was named Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Torrian Wright earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
King (UTL, 5-6, So., Danville, Ill.) batted .536 (10-for-19) with one home run, three doubles, five runs and nine RBI to aid the Lady Hawks to a 3-3 mark. In game one against North Carolina Central, King was a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, one double and four RBI in the 11-3 victory. She added 15 putouts and 11 assists during the six games.
Hedderly (P, 5-10, Sr., Dublin, Ohio) was 2-1 with a 2.49 ERA in 14.0 innings for the Lady Tigers. She struck out 13 of 59 batters and recorded a 0.00 ERA in the second game of the series against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Wright (1B, 5-6, Fr., McDonough, Ga.) aided the Lady Tigers to a 2-2 mark while hitting .636 in 11 appearances at the plate. She totaled two home runs, two doubles, six runs scored and 10 RBI during the four games. Defensively, she added 16 putouts from the first base position.

Alina Moriarty (NSU) hit .333 with two doubles and two homeruns in six games for the Spartans.
Jamie Schulle was 2-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 13.2 innings for the Spartans.
Whitney Williams aided the Spartans to three victories while hitting .350, including two doubles, four runs and four RBI during six games.
