NORFOLK, Va. - Bethune-Cookman's
Ricky Johnson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday.
Deron Powers of
Hampton earned Rookie of the Week honors while
Austin Witter, of
North Carolina A&T, was named Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Johnson (G, 5-9, 160, So., Akron, Ohio) averaged 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals to help the Wildcats to a 2-0 finish last week. He hit the game winning free-throw with two seconds remaining to lead the Wildcats to a one-point victory over Maryland E. Shore. He also nailed the game-winning jumper with one second remaining in overtime as B-CU rallied to defeat FAMU 67-65.
Powers (G, 5-11, 165, Fr., Williamsburg, Va.) averaged 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.5 steals in a pair of conference wins against South Carolina State and Morgan State.
Witter (F, 6-8, 205, Sr., Princeton Junction, N.J.) recorded the game-winning block against Coppin State with 2.2 seconds remaining to help the Aggies post a one-point victory. He hauled down 15 total boards and nine blocked shots in two conference contests. Offensively he totaled 18 points and dished out five assists.

Andre Armstrong (CSU) averaged 25.5 points and 1.0 rebounds against North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State.
Rashid Gaston (NSU) tallied 13 points and eight rebounds in a win over Coppin State.
Rashad Hassan (SSU) came off the bench to post a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds in 24 minutes of play against Howard.
Reggie Lewis (FAMU) scored a total of 32 points, two rebounds, four assists, one blocked shot and one steal in two conference games last week.
Stanton Kidd (NCCU) recorded his fourth double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Delaware State.
Trey Kellum (FAMU) finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds against Bethune-Cookman.
Du'Vaughn Maxwell (Hampton) collected 16 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and three steals in a pair conference wins last week.
Adrian Powell (NCAT) averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals in wins over Coppin State and Maryland E. Shore.
Emmanuel Okoroba (Hampton) averaged 13.5 points and 5.5 rebounds to lead the Pirates to wins over South Carolina State and Morgan State.
Troy Snyder (UMES) recorded a combined 28 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, seven steals and one blocked shot in two conference matchups last week.
Pendarvis Williams (NSU) recorded a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds in an 80-70 win over Coppin State.
