MEAC Announces Weekly Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., February 25, 2013 - Adrien Coleman of Bethune-Cookman and Jeremy Ingram of North Carolina Central were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Player's of the Week the conference announced on Monday.  Rashid Gaston of Norfolk State earned Rookie of the Week honors while Arnold Louis of Savannah State and Brandon Goode, also of NSU, were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. 

Coleman (F, 6-5, 190, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) averaged 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals to lead the Wildcats to victories over Howard and South Carolina State last week.  Against SCSU, Coleman recorded a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds along with two blocks and two steals.  He shot 52-percent from the field (12-of-23) and 67-percent from long range (1-of-3).

Ingram (G, 6-3, 175, Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in a pair of conference victories over South Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State last week.  Ingram finished with 26 points, six boards and three steals in a win over South Carolina State.  He also collected 14 points in a 51-47 win over North Carolina A&T.  Ingram shot 52-percent from the field, 58-percent from the 3-point line, hitting 7-of-12 shots.  He also connected on 9-of-10 shots from the charity stripe. 

Gaston (F, 6-8, 235, Fr., Warren, Ohio) fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points and nine boards, shooting 8-of-10 from the field, in a win over Hampton. 

Goode (C, 7-0, 225, Jr., Bronx, N.Y.) totaled 14 rebounds, eight blocks and one steal in a pair of conference wins last week.  He blocked a career-high five blocks in a win over Hampton.  He also hauled down eight boards with three blocks in a victory over Delaware State.  Offensively he averaged 10.0 points in the victories.

Louis (F, 6-7, 205, Sr., Wachula, Fla.) collected 20 boards and eight steals in two wins over North Carolina A&T and Campbell.  He recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds to go along with 18 points in a win against N.C. A&T.  He also stole five passes and grabbed eight boards in a win over Campbell as a part of the Ramada BracketBusters. 

Other Top Performances

Du'Vaughn Maxwell (Hampton) averaged 12.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in three games last week.

Kevin Mays (UMES) posted a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds with four steals in an 64-62 overtime win over Coppin State.

Michael Murray (CSU) scored a combined 36 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and three steals in two conference games last week.

Deron Powers (Hampton) averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals in three games last week.

Pendarvis Williams (NSU) totaled 29 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one steal in two conference wins over Hampton and Delaware State.
