Spotwood Career High Leads Eagles Past Howard 71-64 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senior Leola Spotwood scored a career-high 24 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:12 to play, leading Coppin State to a 71-64 MEAC victory over Howard on Saturday in Burr Gymnasium.
Leola Spotwood finished the game 10-of-16 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from the three-point line, to top her previous career high of 22 points scored earlier this season at North Carolina A&T. She also added a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.
Bria Harris finished with 11 points and Shawntae Payne added 10 points.
Saadia Doyle led Howard with 24 points, while Kara Smith scored 13 points and Jerrelle Gorham added 11 points.
Coppin State improved to 12-15 overall and 8-6 in the MEAC, while Howard dropped to 16-10 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

Delaware State Downs NSU, 58-48
DOVER, Del. - Junior Aivah Parham tallied 15 points and eight rebounds but it was not enough as Norfolk State fell to Delaware State, 58-48, on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Hall. The Spartans have not won a road game all season.
NSU fell to 3-10 in the MEAC and 5-19 overall while the Lady Hornets improved to 6-6 in the conference and 9-16 overall.
The Lady Hornets led by as many as 11 points as Jade Washington scored the last field-goal for DSU as she made a jumper with 1:51 left in the game to make the score 52-41.
Parham scored the last points for the Spartans as she drained a jumper with 31 seconds left, but they continued to trail, 55-48.
DSU shot 34.0 (18-of-53) percent on the afternoon. Tasia Bristow was the only Lady Hornet to score in double-figures and she led all scorers with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Tierra Hawkins added nine points and three rebounds, respectively.
The Spartans finished the game shooting 32.8 (19-of-58) percent from the field. Parham led NSU with 15 points and eight rebounds. Aside from Parham, two other Spartans finished the game scoring in double-figures including Rachel Gordon, who posted her sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Recca Trice added 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists, respectively.

FAMU Holds Off Savannah State, 67-59 for 10th Win
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 23) - Florida A&M picked up their 10th win of the season as the Lady Rattlers defeated Savannah State, 67-59, Saturday afternoon at the Al Lawson Center.
The Lady Rattlers finished the game shooting 34.2 percent (25-of-73), whereas the Lady Tigers shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53). SSU held the rebounding advantage over FAMU, 43-40.
FAMU had a trio of Lady Rattlers to score in double figures as Grice scored a game high 24 points, followed by Patrice Collie with 15 and Sparkman with 13. Jamie Foreman led FAMU on the boards with 10; while Adreya Lacy dished a team high five assists.
SSU had a quartet to score in double figures as both Andrietta Thomas and Blessing Uba finished with 14 points each, while both Erin Hogue and Jasmine Norman finished with 12 points each. Hogue led the Lady Tigers on the boards with nine, while Jazmin Thomas dished out four assists.
The Lady Rattlers increased their record to 7-5 in MEAC play and 10-15 overall, while the Lady Tigers lowers their record to 2-10 in conference play and 7-18 overall.

NCCU Falls To Rival Aggies, 60-33
DURHAM, N.C.-Rookie forward Tisha Dixon recorded her third double-double of the season while the North Carolina Central dropped a 60-33 decision to the rival North Carolina A&T Lady Aggies on Saturday, Feb. 23 in Durham, N.C., at McDougald-MeLendon Gymnasium.
Dixon finished the contest posting a team-high 14 points while also leading the game with 12 rebounds. In addition to Dixon, fellow freshman Aja Hoyle contributed 11 points for the Lady Eagles while pulling down four boards.
The Lady Aggies were led by Eboni Ross who led the MEAC match-up with a double-double, scoring 18 points and grasping 10 rebounds while teammate JaQuayla Berry scored an additional 13 and pulled down eight boards.
N.C. A&T shot 49 percent from the field collectively, seized 39 rebounds, dished out 16 assists, blocked six Lady Eagle shots and shot 5-for-10 from the charity stripe.
NCCU falls to 1-15 on the season and 1-12 in conference play while the Lady Aggies advance to 18-8 overall and 10-3 in the MEAC.

B-CU Stumbles Against S.C. State, 58-50
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Chastity René Taylor and Jasmine Evans each registered 13 points for Bethune-Cookman, but it was not enough as the Lady Wildcats fell to the visiting South Carolina State Bulldogs, 58-50, in a MEAC contest inside Moore Gymnasium on Saturday.
South Carolina State was led in scoring by Ashley Clarke with 15 points, shooting 7-of-8 from the foul line, and handing out four assists while collecting two steals. Also in double figures scoring for the Bulldogs were Tiara Knotts (13) and Trinese Fox (12). For SCSU, 13 of their 18 field goals were assisted baskets.
B-CU was led in scoring by Evans and Taylor with 13 points apiece, with Taylor connecting on a trio of 3-point baskets, as well as a game-high nine rebounds from Evans.
