NORFOLK, Va.- February 19, 2013 - University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Kristie Lopez was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Lopez (5-8, Sr., Ponce, Puerto Rico) averaged a 211.4 with 1,057 total pins at the James Brown Invitational to finish fourth in the field individually and earn All-Tournament Team honors. She rolled three 200-plus games out of five, including a 259 in a win over Fayetteville State. Lopez's efforts aided Maryland Eastern Shore to its seventh first-place finish at a meet this season.
Other Top Performers:
Thea Aspiras (NSU) had an average of 209.6, sixth among individual competitors, and 1,046 total pinfall at the James Brown Invitational.
Staci Hilliard (B-CU) bowled three 200-plus games, including a team-high 257, to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 10-2 record at the James Brown Invitational.
