Delaware State Shoots 50 Percent in Second Half to Top Coppin State
DOVER, Del. -- Taariq Cephas scored a team-high 14 points, but Tahj Tate scored 14 points and Delaware State shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half on its way to a 57-43 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Coppin State on Saturday in Memorial Hall.
The Hornets (11-13, 6-4 MEAC) held a slim 24-22 halftime lead, but made 13-of-26 shots in the second half and outscored the Eagles 33-21.
Coppin State (5-21, 2-9 MEAC) dropped its sixth straight game by shooting just 39.1 percent from the floor.
Michael Murray added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles, while Andre Armstrong added eight points.
Tyshawn Bell added 13 points for Delaware State and Miles Bowman had seven points and five rebounds.

NCCU Drops First MEAC Contest, Winning Streak Ends At 11
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Trailing by eight at the half, the North Carolina Central tried to mount a rally in the second frame, but the defending MEAC regular season champion Tigers of Savannah State used solid defense and clutch shooting down the stretch to end the Eagles 11-game winning streak in a 44-36 decision on Saturday evening from Tiger Arena in Savannah, Ga.
SSU held on for the 44-36 win to give NCCU its first conference loss of the year, ending an 11-game winning streak. The Eagles have never won inside Tiger Arena since moving to the NCAA Division I Level.
Jeremy Ingram led the maroon and gray with 15 points despite the 4-for-11 shooting effort, including a 1-for-5 mark from behind-the-arc. Ray Willis was held to 2-of-11 shooting scoring six points in the loss.
Savannah State (15-10, 9-2 MEAC) was led by Devin William's 12 points as he was the lone Tiger to record double figures as nine different student-athletes scored in the victory. Rashad Hassan added 11 rebounds and nine points.
SSU shot 47.6 percent from the floor in the opening period and 40 percent for the game. The Tigers out-rebounded NCCU 31 to 26.
