MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Savannah State forward Erin Hogue was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  North Carolina A&T's Eboni Ross earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Hampton's Keiara Avant earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Hogue (Forward, 5-11, Sr., Birmingham, Ala.) scored 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in a 49-46 win against South Carolina State. She shot 62-percent from the floor (5-of-8) and 88-percent from the charity stripe (8-of-9). It was the 10th double-double of the year for Hogue, who set a school Division I record for double-doubles this season.

Ross (Center, 6-2, Fr., Columbia, S.C.) averaged 11.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.5 blocks in two victories for the Lady Aggies. Against Delaware State she was just shy of a double-double with 15 points, nine rebounds and six blocks. For the week, she shot 60-percent from the floor (9-of-15) and 67-percent from the free-throw line (4-of-6).

Avant (Forward, 5-11, Sr., Chesapeake, Va.) grabbed 14 rebounds, blocked two shots and stole three passes in a 68-59 win against Coppin State. Offensively she added 16 points and dished out five assists.

Other Top Performers:

Olivia Allen (Hampton) scored a career-high 25 points in a 68-59 win over Coppin State.

Kaylah Blount (NCCU) was just shy of a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.

JaQuayla Berry (NCAT)
averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead the Lady Aggies in wins over Delaware State and Bethune-Cookman.

Tasia Bristow (DSU) combined for 39 points in two games for the Lady Hornets.

Ashley Clark (SCSU) totaled 15 points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists in two games for the Lady Bulldogs.

Ashleigh Claybrooks (UMES) combined for 21 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and one steal to aid the Lady Hawks to a 1-1 mark last week.

Saadia Doyle (Howard)
recorded 17 points and 20 rebounds in two games for the Lady Bison.

Fannie Goodwin (SCSU) combined for 17 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and two steals against Howard and Savannah State.

Rachel Gordon (NSU) posted a team-high 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds against Delaware State.

Jasmine Grice (FAMU) scored 22 points, while shooting 10-of-19 from the floor, in a 63-50 win against North Carolina Central.

Aja Hoyle (NCCU) scored a season-high 16 points with four rebounds, three steals and one assist in a loss to Florida A&M.

Sabrina Montgomery (MSU) totaled 11 points and 10 rebounds in two wins for the Lady Bears.

Recca Trice (NSU) was 4-of-8 from the floor (50-percent) with 12 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a win over Delaware State.

Alexis Udoji (UMES) grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked seven shots and stole three passes last week.

Chasidy Williams (NCCU) recorded a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.
