Toledo Defeats Coppin State
TOLEDO, Ohio – Senior guard Andre Armstrong is quickly regaining his scoring touch after missing four games for the Coppin State men's basketball team. Armstrong fired in 15 points to lead Coppin State during its 85-66 loss to unbeaten Toledo at Savage Arena Saturday afternoon.
It was the second time in three games since returning to the lineup that Armstrong hit for double digits. Junior forward Arnold Fripp added 11 points for the Eagles and junior guard Taariq Cephas scored eight points for CSU (4-8 overall). Fripp, who reached double digits for the second straight game, also led Coppin State with five rebounds. Fripp and Cephas combined to score CSU’s first 10 points of the contest.
Daquan Brickhouse, who scored seven points, made a 3-pointer to pull Coppin State to within, 21-17, with 11 minutes, 19 seconds remaining in the opening half before the Rockets went on a big run to finish the first half. Senior forward Michael Murray scored seven points for the Eagles.
In improving its record to 12-0, Toledo was led by senior guard Rian Pearson, who paced a balanced attack with a game-high 22 points. Also reaching double figures for Coppin State was junior guard Julius Brown (18 pts.), junior guard Justin Drummond (13 pts.) and senior forward Matt Smith (season-high 10 pts.).

Georgia Southern Holds Off N.C. A&T
GREENSBORO -- Jelani Hewitt hit two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to help Georgia Southern hold on to a 66-63 win over North Carolina A&T at Corbett Sports Center Saturday night. Hewitt led the Eagles (7-7) with 23 points, 19 of them coming in the second half. The Aggies (3-10) had two more opportunities to tie the game but Lamont Middleton's three went long. After Bruce Beckford grabbed the offensive rebound, he stepped behind the 3-point arc, but also saw his shot go long.
The Aggies had second-chance opportunities the entire game as they secured a season-high 28 offensive rebounds. The BruAggies shot just 29.4 percent, however, in losing their fifth straight game. Middleton led the Aggies with 25 points. Beckford and Jeremy Underwood had 11 apiece. Richaud Pack's eight-point performance marked the first time this season he has not scored in double figures.
