MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASKETBALL HONORS

Pendarvis Williams of Norfolk State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  James Miller, of Howard, earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Howard’s Prince Okoroh was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Williams (G, 6-6, 195, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 27 points, connecting on 9-of-13 from the field, as he led the Spartans to an 86-84 overtime victory over Boston University.  Williams hit 4-of-8 3-pointers and hauled down three boards, dished out three assists, and stole four passes while playing in 42 minutes of action. 

Miller (G, 6-4, 185, Fr., Smithfield, N.C.) recorded back-to-back scoring performances with 14 points against Fordham and 15 points against Delaware State last week.  He averaged 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in the two games. 

Okoroh (F, 6-5, 190, Jr, Greenbelt, Md.) averaged 9.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals and blocked two shots in three games last week.  He recorded a career-high 16 rebounds with two steals and one block against Delaware State.  Offensively, he added 48 total points and eight assists. 

Other Top Performances

Brandon Goode (NSU) recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, one block and one steal in the Spartans overtime win over Boston University.  

Oliver Ellison (Howard) recorded a combined 18 points, 17 rebounds, one assist and three blocks in three games last week. 

Kendal Williams (DSU) scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds with two steals against Howard.
