Lady Bears Drop Fifth Straight; Fall At George Washington, 75-60
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Tracey Carrington scored 17 of her game-high 25 points in the first half, but it wasn’t enough, as the Lady Bears dropped their fifth straight game, following a 75-60 road loss at George Washington on Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center.
George Washington (6-4) was led by Megan Brown, who scored a team-high 18 points, while Caira Washington finished with 15. Alexis Chandler came off the bench to score 14 points and pulled down a team-high eight boards for the Colonials, who have now won the last two meetings against the Lady Bears to even up the all-time series at 4-4.
Forrest finished with nine points for the Lady Bears, while Dinah Jones grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and had a career- and game-high six steals.
Morgan State shot 43.8 percent (21-of-48) from the floor, including 4-for-8 (50 percent) from three-point range. The host Colonials launched 71 shots, connecting on 27 of them for 38 percent and shot just seven percent (1-fo-14) from three-point range.
George Washington however, made 20 of its 27 free throws for 74 percent, while the Lady Bears shot 60 percent (14-of-23) from the charity stripe.
The Lady Bears will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 18 when they host Towson. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Hill Field House. It will be the third and final home contest for the Lady Bears for the 2013 year.

Short-handed Lady Hornets fall to No. 8 Maryland
COLLEGE PARK, Md. --- Despite a game-high 22 points from freshman guard Raven Bankston, the short-handed Delaware State University women’s basketball team could not handle No. 8 Maryland’s balanced attack in the Terps’ 93-44 win over the Lady Hornets at the Comcast Center this evening.
Bankston, a two-time MEAC Rookie-of-the-Week, has reached double-figures in scoring in each of her eight games at DSU. Her scoring average has climbed to 19.4 points per-game.
She was the only Delaware State player to score in double-figures in the contest. Deanna Harmon had nine points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Lady Hornets. N’Kayah Kersey came off the bench to tally five points for DSU.
Delaware State played without injured starters Tierra Hawkins and Raine Bankston. Hawkins is the Lady Hornets’ leading scorer at 23.0 points per game.
Just eight players saw action for the Lady Hornets.
Alyssa Thomas led four Maryland players in double figures with 18 points. Thomas, who was five-for-nine from the field and eight-of-eight at the free throw line, also pulled down 10 rebounds. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough came off the bench to add 13 points, while Lexie Brown had 11 and Malina Howard 10 for the Terps.
Delaware State is also on the road for the next two games, beginning with a visit to West Virginia on Wednesday (Dec. 18). Game time is 7:00 p.m. in Morgantown, W.V. The Lady Hornets will wrap up the three-game road swing at Marshall on Saturday (Dec. 21) at 12:00 p.m. in Huntington, W.V.
DSU returns home on Dec. 29 to face St. Francis (N.Y.). Tip-off is 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
