NORFOLK, Va., November 12, 2013 – Maryland Eastern Shore junior Mariana Alvarado was selected the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowling Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Alvarado (Jr., 5-7, Leon, Mexico) helped propel the Lady Hawks to first place in the MEAC North as she averaged 211.2 pins in five matches. Alvarado averaged 200-plus pins in four of five team matches with a a game-high 236 against Delaware State.
Other Top Performers:
Thea Aspiras (NSU) rolled a 226 against North Carolina A&T and averaged a 207.6 pinfall.
Courtney Davis (DSU) averaged 192.8 pinfall and bowled a 227 against Howard.
Carrie Hopkinson (FAMU) rolled 190-plus during three Lady Rattlers matches.
Ivory Miles (BCU) registered a season-high 279 against North Carolina A&T.
