MEAC Announces Cross Country Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va., October 9, 2013 – Florida A&M sophomore Kevin Marindich and Morgan State graduate student Ashley Seymour were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Marindich (So., Nairobi, Kenya) crossed the finish line seventh with a time of 25:07.07 on the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic 8K course, leading the Rattlers to a fifth-place finish out of 19 teams. The Rattlers finished eight points ahead of Texas A&M.

Seymour (Grad., Washington, D.C.) aided the Lady Bears to a first-place finish at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational with a time of 17:53.27. The time matched her season-best performance, set on September 14th, at the Delaware State Invitational.

Other Top Performers: 

Alaric Coker (CSU) earned a seventh-place finish at the Delaware State Hornet Invitational with a time of 29:55.83.

Rayon Black (Hampton) placed 14th at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge with a time of 28:42.00.

Nichelle Harris (Hampton) ran a personal-best time (18:38.10) in winning the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge.

Sammy Kiptoo (NSU) finished the 8K George Mason Invitational in sixth with a time of 27:57.70.

Effiey Kosgei (FAMU) finished in the top-10 at the Greater Louisville Classic with a time of 18:38.31.

Fiona Masai (NSU) placed second, with a time of 24:18.60, to help the Spartans finish second at the George Mason Invitational.

Elisha Metto (Howard) led from start to finish at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge with a time of 25:32.20.

 

Rori Ann Naills (Howard) finished ninth, with a time of 20:39.20, at the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge.

Terrell Oliver (DSU) completed the 5-mile Delaware State Hornet Invitational in fourth place, with a time of 28:31.10.

Christian Smooth (MSU) ran a time of 27:40.96 during the Delaware State Hornet Invitational to win the 5-mile meet.
