FAMU captures second consecutive MEAC Championship

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (October 26, 2013) – Florida A&M men’s cross country team repeated as the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Cross Country Championship title Saturday morning at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The FAMU Rattlers won their second consecutive title and fourth overall. Five student-athletes finished among the top 20 for FAMU to earn All-MEAC honors. The Rattlers scored 30 total points and averaged 25:42.24 on the 8K course.

Florida A&M’s Elias Chesire finished first and earned the Outstanding Performer honors with a time of 25:04.00.

Wendell Angel, also of FAMU, earned Men’s Cross Country Outstanding Coaching honors for the second consecutive year.

In team results, Howard placed second with 68 points. North Carolina A&T (80), Norfolk State (94) and Maryland Eastern Shore (138) rounded out the top-five finishes.
