NORFOLK, Va., October 14, 2013 – South Carolina State senior Desire Waller was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week. North Carolina A&T freshman Liz Martino earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Waller (OH, 6-1, Sr., Houston, Texas) finished with 46 kills, 22 digs, five assists and two blocks. She recorded a double-double of kills and digs in matches against North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central.
Martino (S, 5-7, Fr., Elmhurst, Ill.) totaled 81 assists (8.10 avg./set) and 19 digs in three matches. She notched a career-high 44 assists in a win over South Carolina State.

Shanotta Bawek (MSU) tallied six kills, two blocks and one assist in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Da’Sha Brown (NCCU) finished with 25 kills and 15 digs in a pair of victories against South Carolina State and Savannah State, including 12 kills and 12 digs against SCSU.
Ngenui Chafeh (MSU) set a career-high 50 assists, while adding three kills, two blocks and two digs in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Victoria Ferguson (SCSU) totaled 39 digs, three assists and two kills against North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central.
Destinee Harrison (Howard) finished with 17 kills and hit. 583, along with five blocks, against Norfolk State and Coppin State.
Katherine Huanec (FAMU) recorded a match-high 17 kills in the Lady Rattlers’ win over Bethune-Cookman.
Coralie Jarema (NSU) totaled 30 kills in three matches, including a match-high 15 in a victory over Delaware State.
Krista Kraskura (Hampton) totaled 14 kills, six digs and one block in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
Aleena McDaniel (NCAT) matched a career-high 17 kills and 18 digs in a win over South Carolina State.
Kelsey Murphy (NCCU) notched 21 kills and 20 digs in a pair of wins over Savannah State and South Carolina State, including seven kills and 14 digs against SCSU.
Sonia Rosales (UMES) registered 53 assists in two matches, including a season-high 34 against Morgan State.
Kandace Thomas (CSU) finished with 20 kills (3.33 avg.) and posted a .485 hitting percentage in two matches.
