NORFOLK, Va.- North Carolina A&T's Adrian Powell was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Player of the Week the conference announced on Monday. Bruce Beckford, also of N.C. A&T, was named Rookie of the Week while Bethune-Cookman's Alex Smith earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Powell (F, 6-6, 210, Sr., Conover, N.C.) scored 43 points for the week in leading the Aggies to two solid non-conference victories. Against Radford, Powell recorded 20 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in 33 minutes of play. He followed that performance shooting 7-of-12 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe en route to a 23 point finish with nine rebounds, one assist and four steals in a win over Georgia Southern.
Beckford (C, 6-7, 215, Fr., Silver Spring, Md.) tallied 24 total points with 13 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and three steals in a pair of non-conference wins over Radford and Georgia Southern. He fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine boards, shooting 7-of-11 from the floor against Radford.
Smith (F/C, 6-7, 210, Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded 10 rebounds, seven blocks and six steals against LSU. Offensively he added 10 points in 30 minutes of play.

Adrien Coleman (B-CU) scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds against LSU.
Simuel Frazier (HOW) scored 13 points and dished out eight assists with two steals in a win over Coppin State.
Matthew Hezekiah (SCSU) posted a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds, shooting 12-of-18 from the floor, against South Carolina.
Jeremy Ingram (NCCU) finished with 22 points, two assists, two blocks, one rebound and one steal in a 64-57 win over Winthrop.
Dwayne Jackson (MSU) tallied 16 points, eight rebounds, four steals and one blocked shot against Saint Joseph's.
Rob Johnson (NSU) averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in two non-conference games last week.
Reggie Lewis (FAMU) shot 6-of-11 from the floor as he finished with 13 points, two assists and one steal against Central Florida.
Stanton Kidd (NCCU) shot 50-percent from the field on his way to 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block against Winthrop.
Prince Okoroh (HOW) posted 13 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, four steals and one assist in 35 minutes of play against Coppin State.
Marques Oliver (DSU) tallied 20 points, 14 rebounds, two assists, four blocks and four steals in two non-conference games last week against Marshall and Arkansas.
Troy Snyder (UMES) recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and one assist against American.
Casey Walker (DSU) recorded a combined 26 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in two non-conference games last week.
Pendarvis Williams (NSU) averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.5 steals in two non-conference games.
