MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va.- Howard guard Saadia Doyle was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. North Carolina A&T's Eboni Ross earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Delaware State's Keyanna Tate earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Doyle (Guard, 6-0, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) scored 32 points, including 53-percent from the floor (10-of-19) and 92-percent from the charity stripe (11-of-12) in a 61-58 win over Temple. She added nine rebounds, four steals and two steals in the victory.

Ross (Center, 6-2, r-Fr., Columbia, S.C.) averaged 9.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games for the Lady Aggies last week. She posted a season-high 11 points, including 5-of-8 from the free-throw line, along with seven rebounds in a victory against George Washington. For the week Ross totaled 19 points and 11 rebounds and shot 70-percent (7-of-10) from the floor.

Tate (Forward, 6-0, So., Beltsville, Md.) pulled down 16 rebounds, blocked two shots and stole two passes to aid the Lady Hornets to a 1-1 mark last week.  Offensively, she shot 64-percent from the floor (9-of-14) and combined for 21 points.

Other Top Performers:

Keiara Avant (Hampton) recorded her eighth double-double of the year with 12 points and 13 rebounds in a win over American.

Jasmine Grice (FAMU) posted 20 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out six assists against Florida International.

Tierra Hawkins (DSU) combined for 39 points and 15 rebounds against Houston Baptist and Houston.

Adriana Nazario (NCAT) totaled 24 points in two games for the Lady Aggies.

Batavia Owens (NSU) grabbed nine rebounds and stole three passes against Hofstra.

Kimberly Sparkman (FAMU) scored 28 points, grabbed two rebounds and dished out five assists in a one-point loss to Florida International.

Blessing Uba (SSU) scored 15 points with three rebounds against San Diego State.
