North Carolina A&T Falls to Wofford, 7-0

The lineup for the North Carolina A&T had a different look on Saturday afternoon at Wofford, as the Aggies had to deal with injuries to a pair of key players and also give some of the newest members of the team some needed playing experience.

With sophomore Kenya Colbert unavailable due to a knee injury and senior April Burrage ill with a stomach bug, freshmen Unique Hawkins and Takeyrah Reid made their collegiate debuts on the court as A&T (0-2) was swept, 7-0, by Wofford (1-1).  Reigning MEAC Rookie of the Week Jayla Scott, who made her A&T debut on Jan. 18 in the team's season opener, started again in the match at Wofford.

Hawkins fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, to Audrey Coventry at the No. 2 singles position, while Reid was defeated, 6-0, 6-0 by Lucy Schermerhorn at the No. 6 position.  Scott lost to Mareli Sanchez by 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles match.  Hawkins and Reid teamed together for the No. 3 doubles match and lost, 8-0.  Scott partnered again with senior Cayla Cross and their match went unfinished after a 7-1 start.

Junior Kimberly Stalling played the No. 1 singles match in place of Colbert, and put up a competitive fight against Sarah Evans. For the complete story, visit www.ncataggies.com
