Men's Tennis Recap: Jan. 25

 

Spartans Fall to East Carolina, 6-1

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Freshman Dzmitry Zyhmantovich defeated John Schmitt at the No. 2 singles spot as the Spartans suffered a 6-1 loss at East Carolina on Friday at the ECU Indoor Tennis Center.

The Pirates improved to 2-0 while NSU dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Zyhmantovich defeated Schmitt, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. ECU's Joran Vliegen defeated sophomore Igor Braga in the No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Robin Riethmueller suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Nicolas Soriano in the No. 3 spot. In the No. 4 singles spot junior Peter Rastromer-Pello lost to Damien Brenard, 6-2, 7-5. Colin Roller defeated freshman Samuel Lemberger 6-4, 6-0. Sophomore Daniel Grauel finished off the singles matches with a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Patriek Wolterbeek.                                                                                                                                          

NSU went 0-3 in the doubles matches. Zyhmantovich and Rastromer-Pello were down 6-3 to Vliegen and Roller before the match was abandoned. Braga and Riethmueller fell to Schmitt and Brenard, 8-1 at the No. 2 spot. Grauel and Lemberger lost to Soriano and Wolterbeek, 8-2.
