Freshman Dzmitry Zyhmantovich defeated Albert Ochagavia at the No. 2 singles spot and freshman Robin Riethmueller defeated Jonas Kuwert at the No. 3 singles spot, but it was not enough as the Spartans suffered a 2-5 loss at Old Dominion on Sunday the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
The Monarchs improved to 1-1 while NSU dropped to 0-1 on the season.
Zyhmantovich defeated Ochagavia, 6-3, 7-5. Riethmueller defeated Kuwert, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. ODU's Carlos Lopez Villa defeated sophomore Igor Braga in the No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Junior Peter Rastromer-Pello lost Dante Terenzio, 6-0, 6-2. Sophomore Daniel Grauel finished off the singles matches with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 loss to Zvonimir Podvinski.
NSU went 0-3 in the doubles matches. Zyhmantovich and Rastromer-Pello suffered an 8-4 loss to Lopez-Villa and Can Cetinel. Braga and Riethmueller fell to Kuwert and Ochagavia, 8-7 at the No. 2 spot. Grauel and freshman Samuel Lemberger lost to Tim Schweig and Wesley Barrett, 8-2.
