BROOKLYN, N.Y.-After posting a slightly disappointing first day 4-2 record, UMES repeated that mark on day two of the Terrier's New Year's Knockdown, but racked up enough pins to capture the day two title of Quad-Baker Champions.  The Lady Hawks posted a 4,949 pin fall, 63 pins better than second place Wisconsin-Whitewater and 129 better than Sacred Heart.

The win means that UMES has led the field in eight of nine days of competition so far this season.

Despite winning day two, the Hawks came up 64 pins short of being named event champions.  No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater, who was dominating on day one, tallied 10,957 pins and an 11-1 mark, their only loss coming in Bakers to Long Island University.  The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks posted 10,893 pins and an 8-4 overall mark to finish second and post just one of three winning records in an evenly matched field.

LIU Brooklyn took third place overall with a 10,613 pin total.

Sacred Heart (10,450), Kutztown (10,419), St. Francis Brooklyn (10,185), Delaware State (10,014) and Hampton (9.720) rounded out the eight-team field.

The Hawks started out cold, dropping their first two matches in the quad-baker format.  They fell to rival Delaware State 790-756 and then to No. 12 Sacred Heart 887-818 before rebounding to take four straight wins over No. 10 Kutztown (903-786), No. 16 Long Island (867-790), Hampton (816-684) and No. 18 St. Francis Brooklyn (789-733).

UMES improves to 38-7 on the season.
