MEAC Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

Howard guard Saadia Doyle was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Victoria Gonzalez earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Savannah State's Erin Hogue earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

Doyle (Guard, 6-0, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds against Coppin State and Hampton. Against Coppin State she posted her fifth double-double of the year with 26 points and 15 rebounds. For the week, Doyle shot 50-percent from the floor (15-of-30) and was perfect from 3-pt range (2-of-2) and the free-throw line (8-of-8).

Gonzalez (Forward, 6-1, Fr., Atlanta, Ga.) combined for 21 points, seven rebounds two blocks and two steals to aid the Lady Bison to a 1-1 mark last week. Against Coppin State, Gonzalez scored 11 points, including 5-of-6 from the floor (83-percent), and grabbed three rebounds.

Hogue (Forward, 5-11, Sr., Birmingham, Ala.) grabbed 27 rebounds and stole five passes to aid the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 mark last week.  Offensively, she added 25 points, while shooting 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from the floor.

recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 16 rebounds in a 52-50 win over Howard.

Kashay Barnes (NSU) scored 25 points, while shooting 10-of-19 from the floor (52-percent), in an overtime loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.

JaQuayla Berry (NCAT) scored 16 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in a loss at Bethune-Cookman.

Tisha Dixon (NCCU) grabbed a team-high 18 rebounds in a loss to Florida A&M.

Persephone Goodwin (SCSU) combined for 14 points and 17 rebounds against Winthrop and Morgan State.

Rachel Gordon (NSU) totaled 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds in an overtime loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.

Jasmine Grice (FAMU) averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.5 steals in victories over Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina Central.

Nicole Hamilton (Hampton) scored 19 points, three rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in a 52-50 win over Howard.

Terrenisha Hollis (B-CU) combined for 16 points and 14 rebounds in two games for the Lady Wildcats.

Bianca Jarrett (MSU) averaged 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists against Penn and South Carolina State last week.

Tiara Knotts (SCSU) combined for 28 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in two wins for the Lady Bulldogs.

Tracy King (NCAT) came off of the bench and scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Bethune-Cookman.

Karona Roach (UMES) scored a career-high 31 points in a 86-80 overtime victory against Norfolk State.

Kimberly Sparkman (FAMU) scored 21 points in a 76-60 victory over Bethune-Cookman.

Shanyce Stewart (UMES) pulled down 14 rebounds and stole four passes against Norfolk State.

Chastity Rene Taylor (B-CU) averaged 18.5 points and 2.5 rebounds and shot 10-of-11 (90-percent) from the charity stripe.
