Coppin State Finishes Sixth at Towson Invitational
HUNT VALLEY, Md. -- Andre Thomas and Hugh Prince were the top two finishers for the Coppin State men's cross country team at the Towson Invitational on Friday at Oregon Ridge Park.
It marked the fourth consecutive meet that Thomas has been the Eagles top finisher and Prince has been CSU's second runner to cross the line.
Thomas finished the 5-mile course in 29:35.86 to place 25th overall, while Prince was 34th in a time of 31:07.45.
Michael McCoy finished third for Coppin State, and 37th overall, in a time of 32:33.70.
Edward Brown and Robert Arrington completed the Coppin State scorers on the afternoon. Brown was 47th in 34:14.48 and Arrington finished 51st in a time of 35:56.86.
Jibri Victorian placed 57th in a time of 38:59.99 for the Eagles.

Women's Cross Country Places 5th at Towson Invitational
HUNT VALLEY, Md. (Sept. 21, 2012)- Morgan State competed in the Towson Invitational on Friday at Oregon Ridge Park and placed fifth with 135 points.
Ishakeema Swain led the Lady Bears with a time of 20:59.99 to place 22nd overall and 21st in scoring. Patrice Rowe placed 25th overall and 22nd in scoring, while Danielle Calhoun (21:58.85) finished 26th overall and 23rd in scoring.
Three other Lady Bears also placed in the top 40 in scoring in Nichole Candelaria (25:26.79, 39th/33rd), Charisma Green (26:13.43, 42nd/36th) and Mary Chepkoech (26:16.79, 43rd/37th).
Megan Kinsella of Mount St. Mary's captured the individual title in a winning time of 19:00.14.
Host Towson won the team title with 32 points, while Mount St. Mary's placed second with 43 points. The University of Maryland Baltimore County finished third with 47 points and fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) foe the University of Maryland Eastern Shore claimed fourth-place with 132 points.
Smooth Places Fourth at Towson Invitational
HUNT VALLEY, Md. (Sept. 21, 2012)-Morgan State senior Christian Smooth placed fourth in a time of 26:48.01 at the Towson Invitational 5k meet on Friday at Oregon Ridge Park. It was the third top-five finish this season for Smooth, who has been the Bears' top finisher in all four meets thus far.
Harold Lamour (29:17.13) placed 22nd overall and was 20th in scoring, while Nicolas Smith (32:43.63) placed 39th overall and was 33rd in scoring. Rolando Reid (37:43.70) was 55th overall, but placed 49th in scoring to round out the top 50 to help the Bears to a fifth-place team finish with 157 points.
Navy won the team title with 28 points, while Mount St. Mary's (50 points) and Mount St. Mary's (68 points) placed second and third, respectively. Delaware State took fourth with 150 points. Thomas Gruschow of Mount St. Mary's won the individual title in a time of 26:23.36.

BROOKS LEADS NCCU AGAIN AT ECU PIRATE CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL
GREENVILLE, N.C. - North Carolina Central sophomore Amber Brooks has led the Lady Eagles cross country team in each of their three meets this season, this time at the East Carolina University Pirate Invitational in Greenville, N.C.
Brooks crossed the finish line in 11th place overall with a time of 19:34.31 on the 5k course at Lake Kristi, helping the Lady Eagles beat out Shaw University for third place in the women's team standings. Other top performers for the NCCU women were Taisha Parkins in 20th place (21:49.76), Syrita Hunt in 22nd place (22:14.01) and Regina Summerville in 25th place (23:05.33).
The NCCU men were topped by freshman Quinn Burkhalter (Charlotte, N.C.) in 18th place with a time of 18:58.31 on the 5k course. He was followed by teammates Keenan Terry in 20th place (19:33.13), Orane Morais in 21st place (19:38.96) and Kevin Vincent in 25th place (20:20.86).

NSU Men, Women Finish 8th at Panorama Farms Invite
EARLYSVILLE, Va. - The Norfolk State men's and women's cross country teams placed eighth at the University of Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational on Saturday in Earlysville, Va.
The men finished with 256 points behind Oklahoma (40), Arkansas (61), Virginia (66), Michigan (75), Duke (135), California (153), and Kentucky (200). VCU (261) was ninth, followed by Howard (283).
Junior Kipchirchir Kiptoo led NSU in the 8k race placing 47th with a time of 25:58.80. Fellow juniors Nathnael Meseret and Damtew Adnew finished 54th and 57th with a time of 26:15.10 and 26:20.60. Senior Vincent Rono placed 65th in 26:47.00.
Freshman Desmond Fogg came in at 28:20.20, finishing 79th overall while senior Aaron Dudley finished 82nd with a time of 29:38.70. Freshman Joshua Carino placed 86th with a time of 31:09.90.
The Spartan women finished with 198 points behind Wisconsin (35), Kentucky (47), Virginia (57), California (83), Liberty (136), VCU (186), and Howard (187). Freshman Rachel Webb led the Spartans in the 5k race, finishing 36th overall with a time of 21:28.70. Sophomore Kassandra Irizarry finished 39th in 21:52.70.
Sophomores Rashaun Combs (23:15.70), Tori Lewis- Johnson (23:48.50), Ariel Bartice-Smith (25:44.30), and junior Tyler Savage (27:09.00) placed 44th, 47th, 52nd, and 53rd overall.
