DSU Places 6th And 7th At UMES Cappy Anderson XC Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Freshmen Terrell Oliver and Anaya Reid posted the highest finishes for their respective teams Saturday morning as the Delaware State University cross country teams competed in the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational. The Hornet men finished sixth overall with 138 points while the DSU women were seventh with165 points.
Oliver led the Hornets with a time of 28:54.12, good for 19th overall in the 8k race. Sophomore Brandon Barnes placed 24th with a time of 30:25.97 while freshman Joshua Johnson was 28th in 31:29.55. Senior Stephen Bowe ran a time of 33:18.81 to place 28th and sophomore Bryan Pointer rounded out the scoring for DSU with a 41st place time of 33:57.26.
The University of Pittsburgh swept the first four positions to earn 17 points and a first place team finish. Andrew Cerrito led the Panthers with a time of 25:42.42.
Seton Hall finished second with 56 points while Norfolk State was third with 103 points. Morgan State recorded 125 points for fourth place while Coppin State posted 131 for fifth place. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore finished the race in seventh place with 148 points.
Pitt dominated the women's race, taking nine of the top 10 positions to take home a first place finish of 15 points. The Panthers' Morgan Perry placed first with a time of 18:30.50.
Seton Hall also finished second in the women's race with 50 points, followed by Morgan State in third with 115 points and UMES in fourth with 117 points. Norfolk State and Coppin State finished fifth and sixth with 142 and 145 points, respectively.
Reid led the DSU women with a time of 22:49.37, good for 49th overall. Fellow freshman Brianna Sims followed in 50th place with a time of 22:53.40. Sophomore Ashley Robinson ran a 23:43.26 for 58th place while sophomore Shalaya Sidney posted a 23:52.99 for 59th place. Junior Aatiqah Ali finished off the scoring for the Hornets with a 70th place time of 27:28.53.

Hampton Cross Country Competes In William & Mary Invitational
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -Hampton competed in the William & Mary Invitational on Saturday morning on the courses at the Eastern State Hospital.
The Lady Pirates finished sixth in the women's standings with 182 points, while the Pirates were seventh in the men's standings with 215 points.
William & Mary swept both team titles.
Junior Devyn Thompson paced the Pirates with a 20:17.00 over the 5K course, finishing 42nd. Junior Nichelle Harris ran a 21:21.00 to finish 59th, while junior Cydney Robinson came in 62nd with a 21:28.00.
Senior Shaquanda Gainey ran a 21:31.00 to finish 64th. Junior Malekah Holland ran a 21:36.00 to finish 65th, and freshman Kaylor Murray came in 72nd with a 22:28.00.
William & Mary's Elaina Balouris won the individual title with a 17:39.00.
Senior Xavier Fraction paced the Pirates on the men's 8K course, running a 28:50.00 to finish 57th, while junior Je'Von Hutchison came in 59th with a time of 29:03.00. Senior Jaleel Rogers ran a 30:05.00 to finish 68th.
Junior Larry Ramirez ran a 30:08.00 to finish 70th. Sophomore Mohamed Labor-Koroma came in 75th with a 30:41.00, while junior Evan Williams ran a 31:22.00 to finish 77th.
Sophomore Edose Ibadin ran a 33:53.00 to finish 85th.
Alex McGrath of William & Mary won the men's individual title with a 25:17.00.

Irizarry Places 18th at Cappy Anderson Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Sophomore Kassandra Irizarry paced the Norfolk State women's cross country team with an 18th place finish at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational on Saturday.
NSU finished fifth as a team. Spartan runner Rachel Webb finished 28th with a running time of 20:35.36. Rashaun Combs was not far behind and finished 51st with a time of 22:55.47.
Rounding out the rest of the NSU runners were Tyler Savage and Tori Lewis-Johnson who placed 65th and 72nd, respectively, at the UMES Cross Country Course.
NSU Men Finishe Third at Cappy Anderson Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The Norfolk State men's cross country team placed third at the UMES Cappy Anderson Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Desmond Fogg took 11th and led all Spartan runners with a time of 28:13.56. Freshman Joshua Carino was not far behind, finishing 17th running a time of 28:42.65. Freshman Jerome Scurry, senior Aaron Dudley, and Devin Booker finished 21st, 25th, and 33rd, respectively. NSU completed the meet with 103 points.

Codjo Gbedo And Latitia Salley Have Hawks Highest Finish
Princess Anne, Md.-Codjo Gbedo and Latitia Salley marked the highest finishes for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in their respective races. Gbedo finished with a time of 29:56.47, while Salley finished the women's race in a time of 21:23.92. The pair took 20th and 34th place respectively.
Alonzo Jarmon finished 30th for the men with a time of 31:47.13. Teammates Javierelle Turner (33:12.88) and Shaquille Turner (33:19.02) finished in 37th and 39th place, respectively. Melina Gallas, Emilie Ducados and Taylor Folk finished in places 42nd through 44th, respectively. Gallas posted a time of 22:00.70, with Ducados and Folk crossing in times of 22:02.79 and 22:05.09.
Kraig Webb finished in a time of 35:21.56 for 43rd place, with teammate Joshua Booze crossing the line at 37:12.03. The women's Jennell Wade and Annis Mars finished back-to-back with their times of 23:13.36 and 23:17.08, respectively.
Latasha Moore rounded out the women's race with her finishing time of 26:16.84.

Durden leads Lady Rattlers in Univ. of Florida Mountain Dew Invitational
GAINESVILLE,Fla. (Sept.15) - The FAMU Lady Rattlers competed in one of the largest cross country events of the year this past weekend and got good results, despite being without two if its top runners, who will return to action this week.
Simone Durden, a 2011 MEAC cross country medalist, led the Lady Rattlers in Univ. of Florida Mountain Dew Invitational. She placed 43rd overall in the women's division, coming in at 19:38.72 for the 5K race. Chandelic Jackson, also a 2011 MEAC medalist, took the No.48 slot, coming in at 19:43.46.
Zenia George placed No.87 overall with a 20:37.37 time. Ciera WIlliams (21:12.12), Ariel Allen (21:31.20) and Clarricia Golden (22:31.46) rounded out the Lady Rattlers in the meet.
FAMU Cross Country places fourth in Univ. of Florida's Mountain Dew Invite
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Sept.15) - Florida A&M came in fourth overall in Univ. of Florida's Mountain Dew Invite that featured over 1,600 athletes in the region.
Elias Cheshire and Shuaib Winters continued to pace the Rattlers. Cheshire ran 24:41.37 in the 8K, earning him fourth place overall in the collegiate division. Winters would follow, taking fifth place overall in 24:49.33. Rattler newcomer Kevin Marindich took 19th overall in a time of 26:03.37. Diemy Duclos and Lamere Buchanon rounded out the team. Duclos carded a time of 26:40.85 and Buchanon ran a 27:18.75.

SC State Men Finish 21st While Women Run 24th In 2012 Adidas/Winthrop XC Invitational
ROCK HILL, SC- SC State men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2012 adidas/Winthrop Cross Country Invitational which was held Saturday on the Winthrop Farm Course. The men finished in 21st place, followed by the women finishing at 24th spot.
The meet attracted 31 women's teams and 27 men's squads, including four nationally ranked teams and a total of nine Big South Conference schools on the same course that will host the 2012 Big South Championships on Oct. 27.
Junior Sherril McFarlane was the top finisher for the Lady Bulldogs with a time of 19:42.32, good enough for a 72nd place among 251 participants in the women's 5K run.
Junior Seymour Walter was the top finisher for the Bulldogs with a time of 28:20.57, to finish 123rd, while junior Aaron Worthy Jr. was close behind with a time of 28:36.25, finishing 128th among 251 runners in the men's 8K.
