National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-America
nods Anggie Ramirez (Bogota, Colombia) and T'nia Falbo (Greensburg, Pa.) were
recently honored by the same organization as members of the 2012 Academic All-NTCA
Team.

The NTCA honored 15 student-athletes with first, second and third selections based upon
a combination of athletics and academic performance.  To be in consideration for the
award student-athletes must have had a minimum GPA of 3.4 during the 2011-12
academic year.  The team designations are allotted to the athletes who, in addition to the
3.4 GPA, drew the most voting support from the All-America teams.

Ramirez and Falbo, both juniors, were second-team nods.  Ramirez is a computer science
major while Falbo is studying Accounting.

In all the NTCA listed 140 student-athletes with the minimum GPA and bowling success.
Sophomore and NCAA Elite 89 winner Megan Buja (Rockford, Ill.) as well as freshman
duo Marianna Alvarado (Leon, Mexico) and Tatiana Munoz (Ibague Tolima, Colombia)
were all included in the list, giving the 2012 NCAA National Champions five honorees.
The trio is majoring in human ecology, engineering and rehabilitation psychology
respectively.

The quintet helped lead UMES to their second consecutive NCAA National
Championship and third overall this past season.

Ramirez earned her second All-America honor while Falbo picked up her first as well as
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year honors.  All five players,
four of which were starters will return to the Lady Hawks' lineup this fall when UMES
opens their season in early November.
