HAMPTON, Va.-North Carolina Central fell to Hampton 7-1 and 5-2 in a mid-week doubleheader.
In the loss, NCCU gathered eight hits and three runs, as junior Shakemia Edwards led the squad with three hits and one RBI in game two of the afternoon.
During game one of Tidewater action, senior Aurora Baker pitched a complete game with 4.0 innings of play. In her time on the mound, Baker allowed nine hits and seven runs against 20 batters. Fellow senior Andrea Searls amassed one run and one hit on two times at bat, while sophomore Amanda Bullock notched one hit and one RBI in two times at bat.
Hampton led the competition from the top of the first with three runs. The Pirates continued their home-based advantage with one run in the bottom of the third and an additional three runs in the bottom of the fourth after NCCU's solo run in the top of the fourth.
In game two of the doubleheader, junior Bianka Molina took to the circle with 6.0 innings of pitching. Molina struck out three HU batters, while allowing eight hits and five runs, as Edwards guided the offense with one run, three hits and one RBI on three times at bat.
NCCU gathered a single run in the top of the fourth and fifth inning, as HU amassed two runs in the bottom of the first and single runs in the bottom of the second, third and fourth innings.
The maroon and gray drops to 3-43 on the season.
