Florida A&M advanced to the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship game for the second time in three seasons with a 12-6 win over Hampton on Friday evening at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
Hampton finished with 10 hits while committing seven errors in the game while Florida A&M finished the contest with nine hits.
Jasmin Donaldson totaled a team high three hits to lead the Lady Rattlers, while Sharde Estep tallied three hits for the Lady Pirates.
In addition, there were four homeruns hit in the contest as Estep, Brooke Boykin and Adriana Scott each recorded a homer for Hampton, while Whitney Robinson recorded a homer for FAMU.
Jennifer Lindsey picked up the win for the Lady Rattlers pitching three innings, giving up five hits, four earned runs and striking out one, while Robinson gave up two earned runs, five hits and struck out one in four innings of relief.
Jailynn Jackson received the loss for the Lady Pirates as she gave up three earned runs, four hits, and struck out one in three innings of work.
With the win, FAMU is now 28-28 on the season and will face Bethune-Cookman at 1 p.m. in tomorrow's championship game.
Hampton finished the season with a 25-33 record.
