Florida A&M scored four runs in the 11
th inning to take the 5-1 victory over Coppin State in the opening round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex.
Tied at one-all after six innings of action, the Lady Rattlers opened up the scoring margin with Obie Roberson and Tenisha Dixon each scoring on a CSU errors. Florida A&M gained the 5-1 edge with scores by Jasmin Donaldson and Christina Robbs after two additional infielder errors.
FAMU's Jennifer Lindsey (13-8) picked up the win giving up four hits, one run and striking out four in 11 innings.
MEAC Pitcher of the Year Paige Arnold (15-14) received the loss allowing eight hits, one earned run and striking out nine.
Coppin State will meet Norfolk State in double-elimination bracket game at 4:30 p.m. The Spartans fell to Bethune-Cookman earlier today.
