UCF Tops B-CU, 4-0
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Behind a no-hitter from Mackenzie Audas, UCF downed Bethune-Cookman 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at Sunnyland Park in the Wildcats' final home game of the season.
Audas, a freshman, struck out 11 while walking two Wildcat batters and hitting another in handing B-CU (26-26) its first shutout loss since a 10-0 to Minnesota March 10.
Natalie Land provided UCF (39-13) all the offense it would need in the first at bat when she homered to center. Land would later score two unearned runs and combined with Kahley Novak for six of the Knights' ten hits.
Calesha Shelley, Kelsey Rodeny and Aurelia Gamch reached base for B-CU, all in the first three innings.
B-CU's best chances to break the no-hitter came in the sixth. Shelley's leadoff pop got past the UCF infield, but Land made the catch for the out. Later in the inning, Michelle Banelous-Smith hit a deep fly ball to the fence but it was caught for the final out.
