NORFOLK, Va., April 23, 2012- Delaware State’s Bria Green earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in softball, the conference announced on Monday. Florida A&M’s Jennifer Lindsey was named the Pitcher of the Week, while Haley Ward of Norfolk State earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Green (OF, 5-8, Fr., Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) hit .600 in 10 appearances with two homeruns and four RBI in three games for the Lady Hornets. Green was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 10-0 win against Norfolk State.
Lindsey (P, 5-6, Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.) earned a 0.00 ERA, allowing just two hits and no walks in a 4-1 win over North Carolina Central. The junior pitched 6.0 scoreless innings and struck out four of the 19 batters she faced.
Ward (OF, 5-7, Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) was 5-for-9 (.556) with one double and two RBI to aid the Spartans to a 2-1 mark last week. The outfielder was a perfect 2-for-2 in the third game against Delaware State.

Bre’Anna Brown (Hampton) was 4-for-6 (.667) with two runs in three games for the Lady Pirates.
Aurelia Gamch (B-CU) was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and a run in a 4-3 win over North Carolina A&T.
Sarah Kaiser (NCCU) batted .667 (4-for-6) with a RBI in two games against Florida A&M.
Kieifi Myrick (FAMU) hit .333 with one homerun and two RBI in a 4-1 win over North Carolina Central.
Liz Riley (NSU) posted a 1-1 mark with a 3.65 ERA on the week, allowing eight hits and striking out two for the Spartans.
Obbie Roberson (FAMU) batted 1.000 (2-for-2) with two runs in a 4-2 win over North Carolina Central.
Tiffany Rubin (MSU) hit .454 (5-for-11) with two runs and two RBI in three games for the Lady Bears.
Calesha Shelley (B-CU) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a stolen base in a 6-2 win over North Carolina A&T.
Shanel Tolbert (B-CU) posted a 2-1 mark on the week with a 3.50 ERA for the Lady Wildcats.
