The Tar Heels jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, before the Lady Pirates (17-26) tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third after a leadoff home run to right-center field by junior Shine Huwe - her fifth of the season.

North Carolina (34-10) answered in the bottom of the third inning, scoring 11 runs on nine hits - including five home runs. Megan Morrison had the big blow of the inning for the Tar Heels, cracking a grand slam to right-center field.

Hampton's second run of the game came in the top of the fourth, when senior Sharde' Estep led off the frame with her first home run of the season.

Freshman Jailynn Jackson struck out three batters in 2.2 innings of work, while senior Travonna Byrd added another two strikeouts in her 1.1 innings on the mound.

Hampton jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the second game, and sophomore Margaret Wilkins singled home a run before Huwe hit a three-run home run to left field - her sixth of the season.

The Tar Heels would take a 5-4 lead after putting up five runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a Constance Orr grand slam.

North Carolina later scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to home runs from Orr and Kelli Wheeler.
