Bethune-Cookman Splits With North Florida

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Kelsey Rodney drove in three runs and Sabrina Ferguson two as Bethune-Cookman (21-22) downed North Florida (24-19) 9-1 to salvage a split of a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at Sunnyland Park.

North Florida won the opener 3-2 in nine innings, snapping a the Wildcats' 13-game home winning streak as well as their current 6-game run.

B-CU capitalized on four wild pitches and a passed ball en route to the run-rule decision - the Wildcats have had at least one eight-run victory in their last four series or doubleheaders - in the second game. Rodney hit a two-run single in the third while Ferguson's two-run single highlighted a four-run fourth.

In the opener, Ferguson's two-run single in the fifth broke a scoreless tie, but UNF scored two unearned runs in the seventh and then scored on a bunt single in the ninth for the comeback victory.

Jacksonville Blanks Lady Rattlers, 4-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 11) - Jacksonville used the long ball to defeat the Florida A&M, 4-0 as they hit two doubles and one homer, here Wednesday afternoon at JU Softball Complex.

JU(23-18) finished the contest with a game high 11 hits as Kayla Ouelett went three-for-four from the plate to lead the Dolphins, while collected five hits as Whitney Robinson finished with two hits to lead the Lady Rattlers.

Sarah Sigrest (14-8) picked up the win as she pitched seven scoreless inning only allowing five hits and striking out 12, while Jennifer Lindsey (7-8) received the loss as she gave up six hits, two earned and two earned runs in the one and one-third innings of work.
