DSU Hornets Top Hampton For Eighth Straight Win

Delaware State swept each singles and doubles contest en route to a 7-0 win over Hampton in a MEAC women's tennis contest at the Marshall Tennis Center on Saturday. The Hornets have won a school record eight consecutive matches to improve to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the MEAC.

DSU's Vania Andonova won her ninth straight singles match, posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4 vs. Hampton. Andonova has also won her last eight doubles contests, teaming with Christina Andrade for an 8-2 victory at No. 3.

Andrade extended her singles winning streak to eight with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5. She has also won eight consecutive doubles matches.

Ksenia Kozlova (No. 1), Marina Sicic (No. 3) and Maja Banas (No. 5) also posted straight wins, while Kristina Aleksic won a shortened contest at No. 2.

Sicic has won four straight singles matches, and seven of the last eight.

Kozlova and Banas were also 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles, while Sicic and Aleksic outlasted their opponents for an 8-7 (10-5) in the No. 2 doubles match.

Delaware State has won its last two matches against perennial MEAC power Hampton after defeating the Pirates for the first time last season.
